Upon graduation from Northside High School in in Fort Smith, AR in 1988 Rodney attended Westark Community College in Fort Smith, AR and Arkansas State University at Westark Campus earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1994. In 1994, he accepted a management trainee position with American State Bank of Charleston, AR (purchased by Simmons Bank in 1999). Rodney continued his banking career after leaving Simmons Bank in 2001 with two other financial institutions and included a stint out of the banking industry from 2010-2012. In November of 2015, Rodney returned to Simmons Bank as Community President for the Fort Smith Region, where he continues in that capacity today. In 2018, Rodney completed Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, where he graduated with distinction in academics and leadership. He currently serves as a member of the Arkansas College of Health Education Advisory Committee, is an officer/member of the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club Alumni Association and is a member of the Citizens Millage Advisory Committee for Vision 2023 Capital Improvement plan for the Fort Smith School District. Rodney resides in Fort Smith with his wife Ashley, and has two daughters, Katherine Smith and her husband Brandon Smith of Little Rock and Madeline West of Conway. Rodney enjoys travel, reading, and playing golf.
