Kenneth Johnson received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. He began his career with the City of West Memphis in 1995, as the Housing Program Manager. He served in this capacity over 20 years, before being promoted to Purchasing Director in 2016.
Over the last 6 years, Kenneth has made many improvements with ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws as it relates to the city’s purchasing practices. Kenneth provides an ongoing supply of quality goods and services to all city offices and is committed to maximizing the taxpayer’s dollar while maintaining the highest standards of ethics, integrity, public trust, and transparency.
In 2019, Kenneth was very influential in making changes to our purchasing card & travel policy. His recommendation made those policies more understandable. He also oversees the City’s Courtesy Vehicle Program. This program allows city employees to utilitize the vehicle for training and city business purposes. This just added value to his work ethic. It’s no wonder he was named 2020 Employee of the Year for the the City of West Memphis.
Mr. Johnson is a 2017 Graduate of the Crittenden County Leadership Class. In addition, he has served as President of the Board of Trustee’s for World Changer’s Organization and Vice President of Boy’s & Girls Club of America. He is also a past Board member of the Good Neighbor Love Center and East Arkansas Family Health Center.
Kenneth is an asset to the entire Community of West Memphis. He is a giver and a friend to all. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his wife of 25 years, Cassandra and his 2 lovely girls Makenzie and Mia. He also loves spending time with his family and church.
