Corey Tate has 15 years of experience working in Power Industry as an Engineer Co-Op and an Engineer. He currently serves as a Senior Operations Planning Engineer at Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). He is responsible for coordinating planned transmission and generation outages with Transmission Owners and Generation Owners in order to keep the power grid reliable. He also drafts Operating Guides to make sure all parties involved in planned outages know what their responsibilities are during the time frame of certain outages and/or certain grid conditions. He also advises others on how to deal with complex situations and customers both internally and externally.
Corey previously was a Power Systems Engineer for Shermco Industries where he performed power factor analysis and correction, conducted short circuit analysis, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies. He also designed electrical systems to NEC standards. He interacted with customers to gather critical information and reviewed engineering plans. Corey occasionally worked in the field assisting the field service team on shut-down, startup and maintenance projects. Prior to that he was the Distribution Technician Supervisor for North Little Rock Electric Department. Where he and his team maintained 11 switch stations with vacuum breakers, all underground equipment including single and three phase padmount transformers, primary cables, and all overhead capacitor banks on the circuits.
Corey attended Mississippi State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He now lives just outside of Jacksonville, AR. He is married with two little girls Selene and Nadia.
