
Anita Smith is the External Communications Team Leader for Garver, a multi-disciplined engineering, planning, architectural, and environmental services firm with nearly 900 employees across the United States. In this capacity, Smith is responsible for maintaining the 100-year-old firm’s brand and ensuring that the company is presented consistently and effectively to external audiences. She leads a team in managing everything from advertising and public relations to social media and strategic business development communications.
With nearly 30 years of experience managing corporate reputations and building brands, Smith’s award-winning marketing and public relations campaigns have been recognized on local and national levels. Prior to joining Garver, she was part of the AT&T Global Marketing Team and the lead spokesperson for the telecommunications company in Arkansas. The early part of her career was spent managing public relations and branding campaigns for Acxiom, ALLTEL, and the Arkansas Department of Economic Development, among many others during her years as an independent communications consultant. Throughout her career, Smith has helped organizations develop sound communications strategies that increase awareness and positively impact the bottom-line.
An advocate for her community, Smith is a GarverGives volunteer, a former member of the Museum of Discovery board of directors, a long-time Positive Atmosphere Reaches Kids (P.A.R.K.) board member, and a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Smith lives in Little Rock and has been married to her husband Scott for 24 years. They have two sons, Charlie (21) and Jeff (18).
