Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Geaney is the Commander, 154th Training Squadron, Arkansas Air National Guard, located at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. As Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Geaney directly supervises over 160 full-time and Drill-Status Guardsmen aircrew. The complex mission of the 154th Training Squadron is to the provide the highest quality C-130 aircrew formal training for the Department of Defense and more than 20 allied nations, while effectively airlifting cargo and personnel in support of state and national objectives. He is a Command Pilot with more than 4,000 hours of military flight time. He has flown the T-37, T-44, and the C-130E/H/AMP, and has deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, UNIFIED RESPONSE, and UNIFIED ASSITANCE.
Lieutenant Colonel Geaney was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Area Studies with a French Minor from the United States Air Force Academy 2000 and a Master’s degree in National Security Studies from American Military University in 2010. He commissioned into the United States Air Force and graduated Undergraduate Pilot Training from Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in March 2002.
His previous duty assignments include Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK and Scott AFB, IL outside St Louis, MO. Lieutenant Colonel Geaney transitioned to the Arkansas Air National Guard in 2013, where he served as a Drill-Status Guardsman C-130E/H Instructor Pilot. Lieutenant Colonel Geaney is married to the former Ms. Amanda Ward; they have a son Joseph and daughter Taylor. He spends his free time coaching youth sports teams, off-roading, making wine, and brewing beer.
