Darrell Boggs is the CEO of the states two most prolific organizations entrusted with utility infrastructure damage prevention and public safety as it pertains to excavation across this state. Arkansas 811 and Arkansas Utility Protection Services Inc. are state wide organizations with missions that are crucial to every Arkansan and our daily lives.
Darrell moved into this CEO role three years ago after spending 30 years in the Water utility industry with Central Arkansas Water. During this time, he held many positions finally retiring as the Director of Distribution and Maintenance. Darrell developed a passion for the management of this precious resource and became involved in many aspects of the industry. He was a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), The Southwest section of the AWWA, and was a past chair of the Arkansas Water Works and Water Environment Association.
Darrell is also a military veteran serving 28 years in the Arkansas Army National Guard/Reserves. He retired as an engineer officer at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Darrell served two combat tours:
- Desert Storm – 1991 in Iraq
- Operation Enduring Freedom – 2011 in Afghanistan
- Notable military awards: Bronze Star Medal, Combat Action Badge, Arkansas Distinguished Service Medal, 2-time awardee of the Army Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Along with completing multiple military schools, such as the Army Command and Generals Staff College, Darrell has a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from John Brown University and holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Operations Management from the School of Engineering at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
If not at work, Darrell can usually be found watching his son Brandon play football or baseball for Catholic High School or cheering on his daughter Brianna as she and her horse Chic competes in statewide rodeo events!
