Rick Cazenave is the Head of Global Marketing for Lanxess’ Bromine Solutions Business (formerly Great Lakes Solutions/Chemtura).
He received a degree in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Pulp & Paper Engineering from Auburn University in 1992. In 2002, he earned a MBA, also from Auburn University. Rick’s work experience started in the pulp and paper industry even before graduation from college when he started in the process engineering department for Great Southern Paper (Cedar Springs, GA), March 1989, as a Co-op Engineer. All total, Rick spent nearly 19 years in the pulp and paper industry, most of it with International Paper. In 2008, Rick moved to the chemical industry, working various roles within Celanese Corporation (Irving, TX) before joining Great Lakes Solutions in 2015. His career has afforded him the opportunity to work in a wide variety of roles and functions to the point where the list is shorter for the areas he has not worked within a manufacturing company than those he has.
Rick and his wife Kathy celebrated their 20th anniversary this year (July). They have two sons aged 16 and 14. There are several hobbies/activities that Rick has been involved with for some time. Rick has been an ongoing weightlifter for over 35 years with a period of about five years where he competed as an amateur. He has studied four different martial arts for several years achieving a 1st degree black belt in one discipline and the equivalent of a 2nd degree in another. Rick has a goal to achieve black belt status in a third discipline in the next couple of years. Rick has been a baseball player (on again and off again) for 36 years and a baseball coach for 25+ years. Working on cars, and more specifically his 1982 Jeep CJ7, has been a hobby of Rick’s for 17 years. Remote control helicopters is another hobby of over 10 years. An aspiration of his is to obtain a private pilot’s license and build his own airplane.
