Colonel Donald L. Clark is the Commander, 189th Mission Support Group, Arkansas Air National Guard, Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. As Commander, he is responsible for the 189th Airlift Wing’s largest and most diverse group. With over 380 Airmen, the organization provides a wide range of support to include logistics, contracting, personnel, training, services, communications, security, civil engineering and emergency management for the 189th Airlift Wing’s C-130H aircrew formal training mission, cyber skills validation course, agile combat support for overseas contingency operations and domestic operations support for stateside taskings.
Colonel Clark was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1991 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Texas A&M University and graduated from Undergraduate Pilot Training at Reese Air Force Base, Texas, in 1993. During 12 years of active duty service, he completed flying assignments in EC-130H aircraft with the 43rd Electronic Combat Squadron at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, and C-130Es with the 61st Airlift Squadron and 62nd Airlift Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas.
Colonel Clark transitioned to the Arkansas Air National Guard in 2004 and spent the first four years as a drill status guardsman. In addition to working as a civilian C-130J simulator instructor pilot for CAE/Lockheed at Little Rock Air Force Base, he flew as a formal training unit instructor/evaluator pilot in the 154th Training Squadron teaching C-130 instructor qualification training. In 2008, he received full-time employment with the Arkansas Air National Guard and spent nearly three years as the 189th Airlift Wing’s C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP) lead before the program was placed on hold in early 2012. He then completed assignments as the 154th Training Squadron assistant chief pilot, 189th Operations Support Squadron operations officer and 154th Training Squadron commander.
Colonel Clark is a Command Pilot with nearly 5,000 hours of military flying time in T-37, T-38, EC-130H, C-130E/H, C-130J and C-130AMP aircraft and has participated in Operations DENY FLIGHT, DELIBERATE FORCE, DECISIVE ENDEAVOR, JOINT FORGE, SHINING HOPE, ALLIED FORCE, SOUTHERN WATCH, DEEP FREEZE, NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM.
