Leadership Arkansas Session III: Agriculture & Outdoor Life – Jonesboro
November 16, 2020
Time: 8:00 am - November 17, 2020
Time: 5:00 pm
Leadership Arkansas Class XV will continue with Session III: Agriculture & Outdoor Life on Oct. 15-16 in Jonesboro.
As the state’s No. 1 industry, agriculture is crucial to Arkansas’s economy. More than 44,000 farms spread across 13.8 million acres annually contribute more than $20 billion to the Natural State. That’s nearly one quarter of the state’s economic activity. Additionally, Arkansas agriculture provides jobs for one of every six citizens. In this session, you will trace the path – and the economics – of the crop cycle from the test tube to the supper table, all of which begins and ends in Northeast Arkansas. On Day 2 of this session you will experience the outdoor life that gave Arkansas the “Natural State” nickname. You’ll hear from those on the front lines for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission who play an important role in oversight of the protection, conservation and preservation of various species of fish and wildlife in Arkansas. And you may also get more than a windshield tour of the type of places that brought ABC’s Wide World of Sports to Arkansas’s doorstep.
The Underwriting Sponsor for the 2020-2021 Leadership Arkansas program is The Citizens Bank of Batesville. The Presenting Sponsor is ARcare. Statewide Program Sponsors are Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, Farm Credit Services of Arkansas, Nucor Steel Arkansas, Southwest Power Pool, and Walmart.
